En Gros Pierre
✕En Gros Pierre has been an importer and distributor of fresh and frozen seafood for over 25 years. Founded in 1989 by Peter Hampas, En Gros Pierre has grown from a small privately owned business to become one of the leading seafood wholesalers in Quebec.
En Gros Pierre imports over 120,000 pounds of fish from around the world every week. Originally procuring and delivering trailer loads of seafood himself, Peter has overseen En Gros Pierre’s expansion of both its product line and staff. With a staff of over 55 people, En Gros Pierre now offers a variety of year-round fresh and frozen shellfish and finfish as well as an assortment of seasonal products. To ensure that only the highest quality seafood is imported, En Gros Pierre has carefully selected their suppliers over the years.
En Gros Pierre is the first seafood supplier in Quebec to receive the Safe Quality Food Institutes (SQF) 2000 Level 2 certification. This certification is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and sets standards to help ensure the quality and safety of food products. In addition to their work in food safety, En Gros Pierre is also an Ocean Wise partner. Through their partnership with Ocean Wise, En Gros Pierre works to expand their offerings of sustainable seafood from around the world.
In 2012, En Gros Pierre merged with Sysco Canada – a move in which Peter and the team at En Gros Pierre are very proud of.
