West Creek Aquaculture
✕West Creek Aquaculture, a subsidiary of Willowfield Enterprises Ltd., is a sustainable fish farming operation based in Surrey, British Columbia. Specializing in farming salmon, and rainbow trout in their land-based recirculating aquaculture systems, West Creek Aquaculture holds the distinction of being the world’s only fish farm to raise sockeye salmon on land. By raising their coho and sockeye salmon in land based tanks, they are able to avoid common issues plaguing sea farmed salmon including sea lice, fish escapes, and adverse environmental byproducts. Their farming techniques, as well as avoiding the use of added antibiotics, chemicals, vaccines, or hormones, provides their customers with a high quality product that is both good for them, and the fish!
Committed to running a fully sustainable operation, West Creek Aquaculture employs several technologies and business practices to reduce their environmental impact. In addition to using solar energy on their farm, they recycle their fish waste to create fertilizer to grow vegetables in their aquaponics structure, with plans to expand in the future.
